Worship

Worship is where we come together to breathe, reconnect, and remember who we are in God’s love. At First Christian, gathering each week centers us, shapes us, and sends us back into the world with purpose. Our services blend tradition and creativity, scripture and lived experience, all with the hope that every person - longtime member or first-time visitor - finds space to listen, pray, sing, and be renewed for the week ahead.

How We Worship

Our worship is made up of four central elements: the Word, Prayer, the Lord’s Supper, and Music.

The Word comes to life through scriptures, readings, and preaching shared by Pastors Adam and Mason along with elders and lay leaders. Each message is honest, soul-searching, and grounded in real life - an invitation to reflect, wrestle, and grow.

Prayer weaves through our whole service as we lift up one another, our community, and the wider world. Each week we gather joys and concerns from the congregation and offer them together, trusting prayer as a holy place of connection with God.

At First Christian, the Lord’s Supper is open to everyone who seeks to follow Jesus. As Disciples of Christ, sharing communion each week is central to who we are. In this simple meal of bread and cup, we remember Jesus’ table of welcome and experience the living Christ with us through the Spirit. It’s a moment of grace, grounding, and renewal; strength for the week ahead.

Our music blends traditional hymnody with gospel, classical, and contemporary expressions. Whether it’s organ, worship band, bells, choir, or a soloist, our focus is always the same: helping the whole congregation lift their voices and hearts to God. Music isn’t a performance here. It’s a shared act of praise and a way we encourage one another in faith.

We’ve designed our worship space to help people experience God with all the senses. Our sanctuary offers a beautiful, accessible setting, and our worship team works each week to create visuals and sound that support the service rather than distract from it. Music, projection, and audio all serve one purpose: helping everyone participate fully. We provide hearing assistance devices, wheelchair-accessible seating, and easy entry without stairs. Children are always welcome; we include a children’s moment each week, with the option for kids to head to Sunday School afterward.
